• 500g ready-made shortcrust pastry**
  • 30g freeze dried cheddar
  • 12g freeze dried caramelised red onion
  • 145ml milk
  • 3 eggs
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning

** CHEFS ALTERNATIVE - we used puff pastry sheets which works equally well


1. Heat oven to 220C/200 fan/Gas 7.

2. Grease an oven-proof dish.

3. Roll out the ready made pastry on a floured surface and line the dish with the pastry.

4. Beat the eggs and milk together in a medium sized bowl and season to taste.

5. Pour the mixture into the pastry.

6. Add the cheese and red onion to the mix and spread evenly.

7. Cook in the middle shelf of the oven for 30mins or until the cheese on top is golden brown.

8. Serve.

Serving suggestion - Simply with salad and / or a fruit chutney is perfection.
